Unfortunately, it does not explicitly cover what would happen if only Liverpool won but if a European Cup winner finishes in an EL place then the nation loses a EL place (in exchange for the additional Cl place up to 5.) But only then.

If two teams from a 4 CL, 3 EL nation (like England) won both the CL and EL and both did not finish in the CL or EL places there would actually be nine from that nation.

From the regs. not newspaper because they get things wrong all the time.
If you don't fulfil the condition of the "IF" in the rule, the rule does not apply.
And here in a different situation explicitly says there could be eight.
b. If the association is entitled to four places in the competition [CL] and only one titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through its domestic championship, the lowest-placed of the association’s UEFA Champions League representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Europa League (into
the UEFA Europa League group stage and the access list will be rebalanced accordingly).
In this case, the association of the titleholders is entitled to one
additional place (total of five) in the UEFA Champions League,but the number of places to which it is entitled in the UEFA Europa League does not change [ie In England = 3; 5 +3 =8 ]

Only 7 places allowed in Europe, 4 CL 3europa, if Liverpool win europa 5CL 2 europa,
So if palace win cup and Liverpool europa 5th and palace only go into europa, doesn't matter where Liverpool finish in league

If we win, Liverpool can not be 5th. Which is the only way them winning would take away a place at this point. (The spots would be 5th, 6th and Palace in your scenario)
Remember for it to be "taken away" they have to have already qualified via the league.
"If the UEFA Europa League titleholder qualifies for the UEFA
Europa League through one of its domestic competitions, the number of places to which its association is entitled in the UEFA Europa League is decreased by one."

We need to win and then Palace can win all they want. Pardew can be annoying but compared to Van Gaal, he pales.
(Trouble is, he would probably be gone and Mouriho would be no better there and they probably would play better.)

As great it is to have a positive GD it's a shame it isn't more. Aren't we tied with Southampton on GD? So if they win and we draw they knock us out of Europa on GD.
That would be gutting actually.
